Cast away your idols!

First I want to apologize for posting so late today, I usually sleep in on Mondays. =].

The Lord has recently spoke to me through many many MANY people about casting down my "idols", and letting ALL my treasure be in heaven. I have noted some scriptures and these are really awesome, first my attention was brought to Isaiah 2:20

And this passage is talking aboout the day of the LORD, and this is what it says,

Isaiah 2:20

20)In that day men will cast away to the moles and the bats
Their idols of silver and their idols of gold,
Which they made for themselves to worship,

And it was spoken over me and I am going to speak it over you, that we would cast down any other thing that takes the place of where Jesus could be in our lives and that we would really throw them away to the moles and the bats. That we would do it out of LOVE FOR GOD, and not shame in the end.

Let's purify ourselves today.

Another verse that stuck out to me was  1 Thessalonians 1:9-10:

9for they themselves report what kind of reception you gave us. They tell how you turned to God from idols to serve the living and true God, 10and to wait for his Son from heaven, whom he raised from the dead—Jesus, who rescues us from the coming wrath.

This one is really cool to me because of how when they turned to GOD from idols, it was big news and it spread quickly.

I was thinking about how so many people supposively turn to God in our culture, but so many don't even understand what it means to turn to God.
So what does it mean for us to turn to God, away from our own "idols"

The last verse I was looking at was Matthew 6:19:
It says....

DO NOT store up for yourselves treasures on earth.

DO NOT!!

It doesn't say, "It's a bad idea to store up treasure on earth" it says DO NOT store up treasures on earth.

So I have chosen to cast down any idol to the moles and the bats out of LOVE for the LORD.

And let's go ahead and make this clear, and "idol" is not just a statue of a false god, an idol is anything that turns your attention away from the LORD. ANYTHING that really STEALS your attention away from the LORD.

And most of the time they are not really obvious to everyone.... T.V.  Internet/cpu   video games   and things like wasted time..... and secular music.... and not all secular music is terrible, but alot of discernment is needed for that one, but I myself only want to fill my heart with the music and worship that glorifies the LORD, so I believe it isn't good, or godly really.

Just examine yourself today, and ask the LORD what you need to cast away to the moles and the bats but only if you do it out of love. He likes it better that way =]
